I like: Henry & Glenn Forever

I like the Misfits and Black Flag, but to be honest the first I heard from either of these guys was Danzigs Danzig III – How the Gods Kill when it came out, back in 1992. After that I got into punk and indie, you know Dischord Records, read “Back in the Van”, SST Records and much more…and more about both Henry Rollins and Glenn Danzig. And Black Flag, Samhain and stuff.

This comic is about the two, well, pretty macho alternative stars from that era.

I like: Josef Müller-Brockmann

“The grid system is an aid, not a guarantee. It permits a number of possible uses and each designer can look for a solution appropriate to his personal style. But one must learn how to use thegrid; it is an art that requires practice.”
Josef Müller-Brockmann

I like: Kary H Lasch Flickfotograf

A book about world renowned model photographer Kary H Lasch. I like it.

I like: Räkodlargazetten

School fanzine(?) from 1996(?) called Räkodlargazetten, which roughly translates as the Shrimpfarmer Gazette. Being seniors and all we aimed at two issues each semester…in the end there were just one issue during the whole year. But we did lots of other stuff…collecting toys, strange food from the school cafeteria and much more while drinking coffee in our room which was located in the basement of the school. I have a box filled with old stuff, you’ll be seeing more of it soon.

I’ll be posting stuff again now. Just had a little break you know.

I like: Fuck You Heroes

With a book full of photographs of legendary punks, rappers, skaters etc, what can go wrong? Well, lots I guess. But this doesn’t.

Capturing an era of counter-culture that really inspired me, this is still fun to return to. Some of these guys are gone, some took a mainstream route and some stayed anti. If you’re looking for photos of Black Flag, Public Enemy, Fugazi, KRS-1, Ice-T, Suicidal Tendencies and many, many more all in one book, get this. And there is a second book called Fuck You Too (and there’s more books by Glen E. Friedman).

Just one question here: where are all the girls?

I like: Hill House in Helensburgh

But this is not a house, it’s a book? Huh?

I think I was in my late teens, when I went on my last vacation with my parents. Scotland. We stayed somewhere not far from Glasgow and took daytrips all around. One day we went to Helensburgh to visit Charles Rennie Mackintoshs Hill House.

As a kid I was fairly interested in art, I’ve heard of Charles Rennie Mackintosh (most kids into art likes Art Nouveau at some point I guess). I hadn’t heard of his Hill House though.

If you ever have the opportunity to go there, do it. Especially if you’re into architecture, design or anything like that. It’s a great experience and a great house. I bought this little book there, to remind me. Btw the Hill House is located here. More about Mackintosh on Wikipedia.

Another thing I remember from that trip was that I was looking for a pair of Champion basketball shoes, preferably red. Champion as brand was available in Sweden at that time, but you couldn’t get the shoes, just sweatshirts, t-shirts and such here. When I finally found them, there was only one (!) shoe left, all the others were shipped for a sale in another city. Only one shoe left. Well, there you go.
